Can’t believe it’s already been almost 3 weeks since I got engaged and an entire week since our engagement party! Actually, it was more of an engagement happy hour, which turned into our friends and family taking over Stamper’s for a couple hours. Thanks Stampers!
We knew we were busy the next couple of weekends with concerts, weddings, cookouts, races, etc. So we decided something mid-week would work for us and for most of our guests. Also, we wanted to have it as soon as possible because we were so excited and wanted to see everyone!!!
What started as “oh we’ll just have 20 people or so” easily turned into over 40 before we knew it. Good thing we are already planning on a big wedding! Umm don’t tell my fiance I said that…
With the amount of people we had, I barely had a chance to eat because I was too busy talking. Don’t worry I made up for it and filled myself with beer. But on July 27, 2013 will someone please feed the bride. I’m looking at you Ashley , aka Maid of Honor.
Luckily, Stamper’s was AMAZING (like always) and we had the best service, food, drinks and CUPCAKES!!! They catered to all our needs for our “Engagement Happy Hour”. They also have a huge patio and the best sweet potato puffs I have had in my life. If you haven’t been there then you definitely need to try it out. They also serve brunch on Sundays but I haven’t been there to try it. (Breakfast is my favorite meal.)
Thanks to all my friends who were able to make it out on short notice and on a Thursday night. You guys are awesome!
Special thanks to my Bridesmaid Kandi, for snapping my new favorite picture of me and Ryan. I swear every time we take a picture I say its my favorite. But for real, this is my favorite.

Wedding Planning:
So far Ryan has asked all his Groomsmen. I have asked all of my bridesmaids except for one who lives a few hours away and the flower girl.
We set the date! Pretty quickly and randomly too. I looked at the calendar and said “Let’s see how July 27, 2013 works”. Called the reception hall and church, they were both free so we booked them both. (overachievers/super planners)
Next, I am trying to pick a DJ, I have narrowed it down to 3 and a photographer, which I haven’t narrowed down yet. If you have any suggestions for a photographer or Dj let me know. (or a photographer or DJ not to use). I am all ears.
And wedding dresses, I know exactly what I want! But not going shopping quite yet. I mean I still have 401 days to go….not that I’m counting or anything….

I have two suggestions for photographers!
Stephanie Levandusky – sjoyphoto.com
Her stuff is awesome! She has a photojournalistic style–lots of candids!
Bruce Bishop– Bishop Photography.

He is the chief photographer at the Elyria Chronicle Telgram. Also a friend of mine and my choice for my wedding.
Also, my studio does weddings as well Woodard Photographic.
Thanks for the suggestions!!!! I added these to my spreadsheet
I love love love that you are so excited and that you are blogging about it!!
Thanks Katie! It’s hard not to blog about it!
if you want an awesome DJ (the guy that did our wedding and you KNOW you had a good time, don’t lie…those wedding pictures NEVER lie)…we used Cat DJ’s http://www.catdjs.com/ i know they are akron/canton area but they did an amazing job! totally worth the price!
Sorry we missed the party!
We actually used Bruce Bishop (who Anna mentioned!) for our wedding. I can show you my book if you’re interested in checking out his work.
Also, Marino Brothers are the best DJ’s around, imo. They know how to get the party started!
AHHH! What a fun engagement party! I love the picture of you two! You are knockin’ things out like CRAZY! That is so awesome! It will give you time to focus on SMALLER details later to make your wedding really personal. I’m so excited for you and I love reading these posts! You think time is flying right now… it’s just going to go faster! Let’s not even talk about how fast “the big day” goes by! …. a week after… I cried that it was over.. haha, I’m serious.
Like I said before if you need help with anything or any DIY ideas, let me know!
I’ve been to several weddings with SPE (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sound-Precision-Entertainment/339605793878) as the DJ. We know Scott personally as well. They do a great job!
